Fighting for Social Justice

As Unitarian Universalists, we believe in creating a socially just future. Every year, our congregation chooses several focus issues and joins with select Justice Partners to support and amplify their efforts.

2025 — What a Year!

With Love at the Center, we stood up with, sat down next to, and looked out for each other as we:

  • Fought for fair elections for the NC State Supreme Court Justice, for democracy at No Kings rallies, and at May Day demonstrations with immigrant families and businesses

  • Stood up for climate justice at Earth Day Jam in Salisbury and GreenFaith protests in Charlotte

  • Celebrated at LGBTQ+ Pride festivals in Salisbury and Charlotte. Offered educational opportunities to learn more about supporting our transgender siblings

  • Protested with partners against inhumane deportation flights by Avelo Airlines and inhumane actions by ICE and CBP in our community

  • Worked to alleviate hunger and homelessness in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Hearts for the Invisible, and Rowan County

Beloveds, we invite you to join us in standing together for democracy, justice, humanity, and equity! With Love at the center, change can happen! Sign up for our newsletter for information about upcoming opportunities. Reach out to our Lifespan Religious Education Coordinator to discover ways children and youth can participate.

2026 Quarterly Focus Areas and Justice Partners

Every month, we support a different local nonprofit by giving half of the month’s undesignated plate collection. Depending on their needs, we may also collect supplies, volunteer, or share information about their work.

In addition, we have other important partners that we work with in different ways, including Compassion Closet, Hearts for the Invisible, and Habitat for Humanity
